ArcGIS and GPS Training Courses

From 18 August 2008 to 22 August 2008, Vietnam – Denmark VidaGIS Joint Venture Company Limited in coordination with FAO held ArcGIS I and GPS Training courses at Trade Union Hotel located at 14 Tran Binh Trong Street, Hanoi, Vietnam.

Participants included officers of departments of provinces, city covering whole state of Vietnam like Department of Animal Health, Department of Animal Husbandry and other departments all the country. In these training courses, trainees were provided the concept knowledge of GIS and manipulations related to GIS such as building thematic maps through the support of ArcGIS software which is a strongest GIS software technology at present.

Involved participants used the existing data at one’s own department to build thematic maps like disease zoning map which displays a number of cattle diseases in zone…

Besides, trainees were also guided in gathering data by using GPS, receiving and inputting data into computer in compliance with the statistical data to get GIS thematic data. These training courses completed successfully after a week.

From the success of the past training courses, VidaGIS and FAO were continuous to hold another training course from 22 September 2008 to 26 September 2008 for officer of Department of Agriculture in Hanoi, An Giang, Hung Yen, Phu Tho, Quang Nam and Ho Chi Minh City. Unlike the first training course, in the second training course trainees practiced thematic data in agriculture field to ensure that with the real data will help trainees apply the reality.
