Vietnam’s first satellite image receiving station puts into operation PDF Print E-mail

At the inauguration of stations on July 9th 2009, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai proposed after bringing the station to exploitation, Vietnam's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment needs to promote cooperation with other countries to promote the really efficiency in the areas of disaster prevention, environmental protection, especially to supervise the response of the impact of climate change.

According to Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the construction started on the end of year 2005. It is built at a cost of nearly 20 million euros (about 28 million U.S. dollars), with funding from French loans. Project Implementation Unit is EADS-DSC (French). This is a satellite image receiving station under the project "Building a monitoring system of natural resources and environment in Vietnam" and is the fifth stations in Asean. This station is a first station in Asia gained ENVISAT satellite images.

Minister Pham Khoi Nguyen - Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment said that  the type of Spot satellite images and Asar photos serve directly to the count of land projects, monitor and control forest count, update the national geographic data, build and edit all types of sea and island maps, supervise environmental pollution, floods.
